My name is Miles Johnson. I have lived in Valley City my whole life and began school at VCSU in the fall of 2023. For my first year of school, I majored in Social Science Education. As I was getting through my second semester, I realized I did not enjoy it as much as I thought I would and started thinking about pursuing a degree in Fisheries and Wildlife Science. I am almost a full year into this degree, and I am very glad that I made the switch as I am now hoping to pursue a career in conservation law after I graduate.
As a kid, I spent a lot of time outdoors. When my family had free time, we did a lot of camping and kayaking. My dad introduced me to fishing when I was really young, and I have been doing it ever since. I recently got into ice fishing about two years ago, as no one in my family had any of the gear required to do so. Since then, I have done a good amount of ice fishing and even went up to Lake Winnipeg for an ice fishing trip with some of my family members.
Considering that I have lived in Valley City for my whole life, I am extremely excited for this trip as I not only get to see new places, but I also get to experience doing some of the things I love, like fishing and hiking, in these new places. I love to travel and am looking forward to seeing all of the new species of fish and wildlife that I have never seen before as well as the different environments and ecosystems.
