My name is Brooke Gaudry and I am from Red Deer, Alberta, Canada. I am 20 years old and I began school at VCSU in the fall of 2020. I am a junior majoring in Fisheries and Wildlife Science. Currently, I would like to pursue a career in the fisheries field. I enjoy the outdoors and I strive to help preserve our environment for generations to come.
I grew up spending a lot of time outdoors with my family. We spent most of our free time doing outdoor activities. When I was a little girl, I always picked up those frightening looking bugs and amphibians because I was so intrigued by them. I have always enjoyed spending time outdoors and observing wildlife, fish, reptiles, and amphibians. Although I didn’t hunt growing up, while attending VCSU and making some lifelong friends my interest in hunting has grown.
Growing up I travelled frequently for softball and I really enjoyed seeing the different ecosystems. It is pretty amazing to live the majority of the year within the United States then go back to Canada and compare the differences of habitat, wildlife, fishes, and amphibians. I am so excited to learn about all the different types of fish, birds, amphibians, reptiles, and mussels while we are in Texas. This trip gives me the opportunity to explore different habitats and environments within Texas that are completely different than what I am used to seeing. It will also provide me with the extraordinary experience of seeing many unique species of fishes, birds, rodents, amphibians, and insects.
