Amber Kologi

Hello, my name is Amber Kologi. I am currently a junior at VCSU where I am dual majoring in Biology, as well as Fisheries & Wildlife Science, with a concentration in Wildlife. I am originally from Rochert, Minnesota, where I grew up grain farming and raising cattle. I graduated from Waubun High School before I came to Valley City. At VCSU, I manage the greenhouse that currently holds about 150 plants. I also am the president for the Student Chapter of The Wildlife Society.

In my spare time I enjoy reading, fishing, and spending time with my family. I can usually be found outside walking, looking at the ground. Specifically, for plants. My main interest is in botany, and I would like to keep studying botany after I graduate from VCSU. My plan is to get my graduates degree at SDSU where I could study wildlife and rangeland science, with a focus on native plant species.

Where I grew up in MN, was along the line of the split ecosystem from plains to deciduous forest. This always amazed me about how many different habitats can be found within a couple miles of each other. I believe this unique area was what encouraged me to learn more about nature and the factors involved. I am excited to learn about other ecosystems found in Texas. Hopefully I will be able to study some of the plants that are native to Texas. Besides plants, I hope I will be able to see and learn about the common fish, birds and wildlife there.
