My name is Tucker Johnson, and I am a Sophomore in Fisheries and Wildlife Science at Valley City State University. With concentrations in 1) Fisheries and 2) Wildlife. I was born and raised in Valley City, ND. I hope to pursue a career in my future working with either fisheries management or big game biology. I want to help protect and create a sustainable environment for our future generations.
I love everything outdoors, whether it’s fishing, hunting or camping and kayaking. I have been involved with all of it from a very young age. I can remember when I was young going out with my dad or grandpa to help push/sit for deer or going fishing on the docks with my papa. Doing these things helped me develop a love for the outdoors at a young age. Ever since then my love for nature has continued to grow more.
I am very thankful for the opportunity to go on this trip. This trip is going to help me to learn new skills and apply what I have learned in my course work thus far. The difference between our ecosystems compared to Texas will be an interesting thing to see. I’m excited to learn about the different types of fish, birds, mammals, reptiles, etc. I can’t wait for this experience to travel across the country to learn and have fun doing it.
