My name is Spencer Dorsey and I am currently a Junior at Valley City State University majoring in fisheries and wildlife science and biology. My primary focus here at VCSU is in the Fisheries Science pathway. I have a deep passion for the outdoors, especially anything aquatic, which has led me through my educational career. I was born and raised in Tecumseh, Nebraska where I developed a love for fishing and aquatic ecosystems around the family pond. After high school, I was given the opportunity to attend Dakota College at Bottineau to continue my education and football career. After my two years at Bottineau were over, I made the decision to stay in North Dakota and continue my studies and football career in Valley City. I have been fortunate enough to spend my summers in different locations throughout the Midwest and learn many fisheries management techniques for diverse ecosystems. This trip to Texas excites me because it will allow me to use my prior knowledge and problem-solving skills in a variety of new environments. I am most excited about the opportunity to sample along the coast. With my prior experiences being contained to the Midwest, the coast will be a completely new adventure for me and give me the opportunity to develop new skills and sample new species.
